Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

How do I apply my Freehand Tattoo Marker?

Applying Your Freehand Tattoo Marker

  1. Gently clean and exfoliate your skin - wait for the area to dry!
  2. Put on your tattoo glove.
  3. Draw your design!
  4. Let the ink dry for 10 minutes.
  5. Cut a piece of the Development Patch, big enough to cover the your entire tattoo.
  6. Peel the clear liner off the Development Patch and apply it, sticky side down - set the liner aside.
  7. Leave it on for 60 minutes - and try not to move!
  8. Carefully peel off the Development Patch.
  9. Gently wipe the Development Patch with rubbing alcohol and let it dry before reattaching it to the liner - it can be reused up to 8 times!

Aftercare For Your Ink

  • Wear loose fitting that covers your tattoo overnight so it doesn't transfer.
  • Don’t sweat or shower at least 6-8 hours after application.
  • Avoid tight fitting clothing to help your tattoo last longer.
  • Moisturize your tattoo daily to keep it looking fresh.

Tips:

  • If you make a mistake, put some rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip and clean up the area.
  • We recommend doing a small patch test on your skin before creating a larger design!

How many tattoos can I create with one marker?

One marker can go a long way! You can create about 5 sleeves with one marker. How many sleeves you can create will depends on a few things:

  • The complexity of your designs
  • Your arm length

When will my Freehand Tattoo Marker expire?

We recommend using your Freehand Marker within 6 months of purchase, and preferably by the best-before date stamped on your package.

To help your marker last as long as possible:

  • Always keep the cap on.
  • Keep it horizontal.
  • Store at room temperature, and out of direct sunlight!

Remember to place the lid on carefully so that the tip doesn't get frayed! If your marker point is starting to fray, take an alcohol wipe and carefully remove the excess (just make sure to wear the glove)

You’ll know it’s time for a new marker when the ink starts appearing more faint or less consistent (lines are streaky or not as thick).

If it looks like your marker is drying out, put the cap on and place the marker horizontally for 24-48 hours.

What are Development Patches? Do I need them?

Development patches are not required, but are available for purchase as an add-on.

Development Patches are designed to:

  • Increase the longevity and darkness of your ink
  • Prevent smudging and creasing immediately after application
  • Stop ink transfer - the first 60 minutes post-application is when the ink is most prone to transferring, so the Development Patch is nice added protection

Your patches can be reused up to 8 times, just make sure to gently wipe the Development Patch with rubbing alcohol and let it dry before reattaching it to the liner.

Your tattoo will still develop without the development patch, but it won’t be as dark and won’t last as long!

Development Patch size: 8.5" x 2.5"
